Webinar Date: Tuesday, March 9th, 2021 – 06:00 PM
Malaria, responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths annually, remains a pressing global health threat. Malaria merozoites invade erythrocytes by harnessing host factors, commonly erythrocyte antigens. Malaria-associated antigen variants (MAV), can preclude parasite binding and invasion, conferring host survival advantage. We utilize bloodTyper, an NGS pipeline predicting blood group phenotypes, to investigate MAV distribution in 345 samples representing 164 diverse populations.
